about
We recorded this tune on our sweet spinet-like piano in the dining room of our 1920's West Seattle home. We put a mic behind and beneath the piano, and one on my vocals, and threaded the chords through the window to our studio outback. Everything was recorded straight to our 1/2 inch 8 track...all analog, on an early spring weekend.
It is on our 'Beautiful World' EP, which is now out of stock. This is the first time it has been released digitally.
lyrics
I remember (how it all went down)
Had a dream you’ve fallen out of sleep,
Fallen out of bed, tangled up in sheets.
Your voice sounds like music to a dream,
I remember you, you remember me.
And I remember, we were in the city,
We walked across the bridge with a bottle of whiskey
That was when I almost slipped away…
Guess I’m glad I stayed.
*It moves in low, like a slow fog
Tricks your eyes into believing
You can see, when clearly there is nothing.
Where to start – pencil on paper,
Sign your name, maybe you’ll fee better,
A deal with pain, so pain is delivered,
Clouds almost everything you remember.
*It moves in low, like a slow fog
Tricks your eyes into believing
You can see, when clearly there is nothing.
Today is just like any other – wake up, sleep never really holds you down.
Yesterday fell just like today
Apart with all the usual sounds…
I remember when it all went down.
*It moves in low, like a slow fog
Tricks your eyes into believing
You can see, when clearly there is nothing.

Gathering raw energy like lightning rods in an electrical storm, the music of Willow & Wood is a kind of folk-noir that's as
eerie as it is soothing.
"Willow & Wood are a hypnotic duo that get high marks for the melodic sensibilities, melancholy notes, and genuine folk Americana style. Imagery that gets under your skin. “Kindling For a Fire” is wickedly haunting and beautiful beyond description”...more
